Roberts collects $10,000 at Needmore

NORMAN PARK, Ga. (Nov. 17-18) — Stealing the lead on a lap-67 restart, Stacy Roberts of Moultrie, Ga., led the rest of the way at Needmore Speedway for a $10,000 victory in the Early Bird 75.
Roberts, who took the second and third spots following restarts as well, deftly slipped underneath outside front-row starter and race-long leader Brandon Overton of Appleton, Ga., entering turn one to take the lead. | Slideshow | Video
Roberts led the rest of way in the inaugural event for Limited and Crate Late Models, taking the checkers with his left arm extended out the driver’s side window in triumph.
Overton settled for second while polesitter Adam Giles of Moultrie finished third. Tyler Ivey of Tallahassee, Fla., and Shan Smith of Dade City, Fla., rounded out the top five.
Several cautions slowed the action, including a major first-lap pileup involving a half-dozen cars in turn two. Jason Fitzgerald spun in turn one for another yellow and Gene Ross, a multitime winner at Needmore this season, spun in turn two after contact with Smith.
