Record-setting Casebolt gets pole at Bama Bash
GLENCOE, Ala. (March 1) — Steve Casebolt of Richmond, Ind., lowered the track record at Green Valley Speedway and captured Friday’s first heat race to earn the pole position for Saturday’s $16,016-to-win Bama Bash on a cold weekend in Alabama.
Casebolt, who tripped the clock at 13.605 seconds in time trials, outran Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., in the first of four heat races on a tightened track with a new wall exiting turn two and down the backstretch.
Other heat race winners earning starting spots up front for Saturday’s unsanctioned 75-lap main event are Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, Ga., last year’s winner Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Tim Busha of Boaz, Ala.
Former race winners Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., and Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., are among others of 37 Super Late Model entries locked into the top 16 spots for one of Alabama's richest Dirt Late Model events.
