Wall tops Breazeale, wins MSCCS at Whynot

April 14, 2013, 7:47 am
From series reports

MERIDIAN, Miss. (April 13) — Chris Wall of Holden, La., and David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., carried over their lead battle from Friday’s Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series event into Saturday’s series race at Whynot Motorsports Park, only this time the finishing order was reversed.

After settling for a runner-up finish behind Breazeale at Hattiesburg (Miss.) Motorsports Park, the polesitting Wall, the 2006 MSCCS champion, flipped the order Saturday at Whynot’s third-mile oval, claiming $2,500 for his first victory of the season.

Breazeale, a two-time series champ, advanced from his fourth starting spot to finish second in the 50-lap race, ending his two-race win streak on the Charles and Janie Thrash-promoted series.

Seventh-starting Neil Baggett of Shannon, Miss., finished third for the second straight night while hometown drives Wayne Murphy and Tody Ratcliff advanced from 12th and 15th respectively to round out the race’s top five finishers.

Wall and Breazeale entered the night tied atop the MSCCS standings. With four races complete, Wall has a victory, two runner-up finishes and a fourth-place finish, while Breazeale has two victories, one runner-up finish and a sixth-place finish.
