Walston tops Miller for UMP Speedweek victory

MORGANTOWN, Ky. (June 22) — Jeff Walston of Paducah, Ky., capture the second leg of the six-race UMP Crate Late Model Speedweek on Saturday at Cedar Ridge Speedway, earning $500.
The pole-starting Walston took the checkers ahead of fast qualifier Clayton Miller Elkton, Ky., while ninth-starting Gavin Schmidt, Evan Taylor and Nate McMillin rounded out the top five.
The minitour heads to Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway on Sunday for the first of three races at the quarter-mile oval. Clarksville also hosts a June 26 event while the final weekend is scheduled for June 28-29 at Western Kentucky Speedway in Nebo, Ky., and Clarksville.
Miller leads the minitour with 141 points over Tyler Allen (139), Taylor (137) and Walston (134).
