Jackson continues tear, dominates 81 Speedway
By David Smith Jr.
National Championship Racing AssociationPARK CITY, Kan. (July 4) — Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., continued his regional domination Thursday at 81 Speedway with a $2,500 victory co-sanctioned by the MARS DIRTcar Series and National Championship Racing Association.
Jackson started on the front row and led 40 laps for his seventh overall victory stretching from Memorial Day to the Fourth of July, making him among the country’s winningest Dirt Late Model racers during that stretch. He also won in MARS-NCRA action the previous night at Monett, Mo.
Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, rallied from his 15th starting spot to finish second while Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., was third. Ninth-starting Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., and Chase Junghans of Manhattan, Kan., rounded out the top five.
Jackson jumped into the lead at the outset over John Anderson, dominating the early stages by building a full straightaway margin over Stovall by the 15th lap.
Gustin worked his way to the front, eventually taking the second spot from Stovall, but no one was a match for Jackson, who cruised to the checkers.
