Dacus outguns Milan foes, wins first SRRS race

MILAN, Tenn. (May 17) — Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., dominated all 50 laps of the PPM Southern Regional Racing Series event at Milan Speedway for a $5,000 victory. The fast qualifier was challenged only on restarts as he built comfortable leads in racing to his first career victory on the 3-year-old tour.
Anthony Burroughs of Athens, Ala., ran second throughout the race while Ronny Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, Ala., took the third spot from Chris Ragan of Corinth, Miss., on the second lap and held it the rest of the way. Tony Morris of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was fourth followed by Ragan.
Notes: The winner's GRT Race Car is powered by an RPM Racing Engine. ... Fourth-finishing Tony Morris moved into the series points lead over Brandon King of Decatur, Ala., who finished 11th. ... The series has two races over Memorial Day weekend: May 23 at Checkered Flag Speedway in Hohenwald, Tenn., and May 25 at Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tenn.
