Anderson's disqualification hands Casey Silver 1000 win

DirtonDirt.com corrrespondentPROCTOR, Minn. (Aug. 30) — Ashley Anderson's glorious night at the 35th annual Silver 1000 was dashed by a rules disqualification as Terry Casey inherited the victory in Proctor Speedway's August Classic.
Anderson, of Eau Claire, Wis., started on the pole and led most of a 40-lapper slowed by five cautions, but technical inspectors found issues with the intake manifold on Anderson's car that resulted in his disqualification from the WISSOTA-sanctioned event.
Casey was elevated to the top spot in the final rundown of the event run the last Thursday of August. Former race winner Jeff Provinzino was moved up to second followed by leading WISSOTA rookie Kyle Peterlin, Kelly Estey and Steve Vesel.
Peterlin started outside the front row and got the jump on Anderson and held the point through the first 11 laps and two cautions.
But Anderson got the jump on the lap-11 restart and built a lead while Peterlin was hounded by Casey and Provinzino, the 2007 Proctor division champion who started in the seventh row.
Casey was up to second before Pat Doar's spin brought out another caution. Anderson held the point on the restart, but Casey was all over him at the halfway point with Provinzino, Peterlin and Vesel in pursuit.
Despite a few more cautions and restarts, Anderson stayed in control the rest of the way to take a checkered flag that would be taken away at tech inspection.

Hanson spun again later in the race. ……… Pat Doar wasn't injured when he spun off turn one and slammed into the bank. ……… John Massingill slid off turn one to bring out the final caution. ……… The race drew 10 former Silver 1000 winners with all of them except Joel Cryderman making the starting field. ……… The event's name was coined because the race originally paid the top three finishers in silver dollars. ……… Drivers who win three Silver 1000s (Leon Plank, Rick Egersdorf, Rick Aukland) get trophies to keep while other winners keep a traveling trophy for the year.
