Jeff Smith wins Carolina's Southeastern race
GASTONIA, N.C. (July 26) — Hometown driver Jeff Smith raced to a $2,000 victory Friday night at Carolina Speedway when the 4/10-mile oval hosted the Southeastern Late Model Sportsman Series.
Smith won from the outside pole, while fourth-starting Timbo Mangum of Lancaster, S.C., was second and polesitter Jay Sessoms of Stanley, N.C., finished third. Ben Watkins of Rock Hill, S.C., and Johnathan Edwards of Lake Wylie, S.C., rounded out the top five.
The event was part of a doubleheader weekend for the Limited Late Model tour. Saturday’s race at Lancaster (S.C.) Speedway was rained out.
