Carrier rules 201's Hatfield-McCoy 50
SITKA, Ky. (Aug. 3) — Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, W.Va., made the most of a weekend off from his national touring duties, claiming a $5,000 victory Saturday night in 201 Speedway’s inaugural Hatfield-McCoy 50. | Slideshow
Carrier, a regular on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series this season, swept the unsanctioned Super Late Model event, setting fast time in qualifying and winning his heat race before claiming his third victory of the season in the 50-lap main event.
Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., was second at the finish, while R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, finished third, ending his personal four-race winning streak. Zach Dohm of Charleston, W.Va., and Walker Arthur of Forest , Va., rounded out the race’s top five finishers.
Notes: Carrier’s Rocket Chassis has a Grover Racing Engine with sponsorship from Engines Inc., Blue Ridge Machinery & Tools, Hess Stewart & Campbell PLCC and Integra Shocks. ... Carrier’s previous two victories on the season came in 201’s Spring Nationals on April 18th and Lucas Oil Series action at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, W.Va., on April 21. ... Terry Hicks earned the Hard Charger award courtesy of Cardinal Chevrolet of Hazzard with his 11th-place finish.
