Shirley tops Feger, bags $3,000 at Kankakee
KANKAKEE, Ill. (Aug. 9) — Polesitter Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., claimed a $3,000 victory on the Sunoco American Late Model Series Friday night at Kankakee County Speedway in the first leg of the Ohio-based tour’s tripleheader weekend in Illinois.
Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., was second while Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., advanced from the 12th starting spot to finish third. Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., advanced from 15th to fourth with seventh-starting Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., rounding out the all-Illinois top five.
The series moves to Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway on Saturday before wrapping up the weekend at Quincy (Ill.) Raceway; both races pay $2,000 to the winner. | Slideshow
