Meadows overtakes Long for Beckley victory
BECKLEY, W.Va. (Aug. 30) — Polesitter and home-track racer Chris Meadows of Crab Orchard, W.Va., used a late-race pass for a victory Friday in the 10th annual Pro Late Model Nationals at Beckley Motorsports Park for a Fastrak Racing Series victory worth $2,000.
Meadows slipped past outside front-row starter Matt Long on the 38th of 50 laps at the 3/8-mile oval for the Crate Late Model victory during Fastrak’s busy Labor Day weekend.
Rallying from the tail, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., grabbed second in going past Long, who got trapped behind a lapped car in the late going and settled for third. Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., Davenport’s AES Racing teammate, was fourth and Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., rounded out the top five finishers.
Fastrak competitors head to Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., on Saturday for a $5,000-to-win event.
