Litton wins at Lone Star, nears 4th SUPR title
KILGORE, Texas (Aug. 31) — Rob Litton of Alexandria, La., virtually assured his unprecedented fourth P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing championship on Saturday at Lone Star Speedway with his 31st career SUPR victory. He earned $2,500.
Litton, the three-time and defending champion on the Louisiana-based-tour, leads by more than 400 points with three series races remaining. Four drivers own three SUPR crowns — Litton, Doug Ingalls, David Ashley Jr. and Kenny Merchant — with Litton heading for his fourth.
Shane Hebert of Lafayette, La., was second at Lone Star followed by Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas. Kevin Sitton of Baytown, Texas, and Jim Bryant of Natchitoches, La., rounded out the top five finishers in the second of three Labor Day weekend events.
SUPR wraps up the holiday weekend Sunday with a $2,500-to-win event at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway, where Litton won series events April 27 and June 8. Patrik Daniel of Wills Point, Texas, won the weekend opener Friday at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La.
