Spence denies Moreland for $8,000 at Winchester
WINCHESTER, Va. (Sept. 22) — Hometown driver J.T. Spence fought off repeated challenges from Kenny Moreland of Waldorf, Md., over the second half of Sunday’s 50-lap feature at Winchester Speedway to claim the second leg of the 3/8-mile oval’s Winchester 200 weekend. The second-starting Spence earned $8,000 for his eighth overall victory of the season and his seventh at Winchester. | Slideshow
Fourth-starting Moreland settled for second in the unsanctioned event, which was postponed one day after a rainout on Saturday. Moreland was denied a sweep of the weekend after claiming a $2,500 victory in the opener on Friday.
Polesitter Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., was third, while Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pa., slipped back one spot from where he started to finish fourth. Sixth-starting Jared Miley of South Park, Pa., rounded out the top five in a race slowed by six cautions.
