Korte tops Pierce, gets first ALMS victory
HAUBSTADT, Ind. (Sept. 28) — Randy Korte of Highland, Ill., raced to his first-career victory on the Sunoco American Late Model Series Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway, outdueling Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., for a $2,000 payday.
Pierce, who won Friday’s series event at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill., settled for second, ending his streak of two straight series victories. Tanner English of Benton, Ky., was third at the finish with ALMS points leader Brandon Thirlby of Traverse City, Mich., fourth and Matt Santel of New Memphis, Ill., fifth. | Slideshow
