McClellan wins RUSH's Hendren Memorial
MARKLEYSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 28) — A week after claiming his first-career victory on the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Dirt Late Model Series, Chad McClellan of Stoysown, Pa., was at it again Saturday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex.
McClellan was the benefactor of attrition in claiming his first series victory Sept. 20 at McKean County Raceway, but he didn’t need any assistance at Roaring Knob. McClellan clearly earned the victory this time around, charging through the pack after an accident in just 14 laps to claim a $2,000 victory in the Bill Hendren Memorial.
“This is an honor to win this event especially here at Roaring Knob," said the 39-year-old McClellan. "We talk to Steve (Hendren) every week and he spent the last couple days with him. That was a great race. We definitely earned this one as last week was a gift from God handed to me. The cautions helped out, but the track was real racy.”
Dan Angelicchio of Greensburg, Pa., was second in the Crate Late Model event, which ran as a support event to the Three State Flyers-sanctioned Big Kahuna event for Super Late Models. Troy Shields of Acme, Pa., was third with John Imler and Butch Lambert of Valenicia, Pa., rounding out the top five.
