Dohm sweeps Rocky Top, collects $5,000 payday

COAL GROVE, Ohio (June 13) — Fast qualifier Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, W.Va., earned $5,000 at Rocky Top Raceway for an unsanctioned victory in the Tri-America Contractors 50. Dohm swept the night by setting fast time, winning the first heat and capturing the main event. Fellow West Virginia driver Eddie Carrier Jr. was second followed by R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., and Robbie Blair of Titusville, Pa. Josh McGuire of Grayson, Ky., last weekend's feature winner at Rocky Top, was ninth.
Conley, Blair of Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn., battle up front early while the sixth-starting Dohm worked his way toward the front. Dohm moved into second on the 13th lap and set his sites on Conley. Over the next 15 laps, the frontrunners battled for the lead with Dohm going ahead for good on lap 28. Carrier dropped Conley to third on the 30th lap, but he couldn't overtake Dohm the rest of the way.
