Notes: A new three-day format features complete $6,000-to-win programs that set the top 18 drivers for Saturday’s 100-lap finale (determined by Thursday-Friday average finishes). … The overall weekend purse is about $60,000 more than last year. Along with the extra purse money from preliminary nights, Saturday’s purse received a healthy boost with start money now $2,000 (up from $1,500) and at least $500 more to every finisher 10th on back. … Additionally, the runner-up receives $15,000 (up from $10,000) and fifth place receives $5,000 (up from $2,500), for example. … The fourth annual Midwest Sheet Metal Challenge for non-qualifiers pays $2,500-to-win (up from $2,000); the winner can opt to pass on the purse and start the 100-lapper. … Thursday’s Cowboy Classic pays tribute to late Lucas Oil MLRA co-owner Allen “Cowboy” Chancellor while Friday’s preliminaries pay tribute to race founders Don and Billie Gibson, former owners of West Plains (Mo.) Motor Speedway. … Eleven drivers have won the race, six of them more than once; Scott Bloomquist’s five victories top the list, but he’s winless since the event moved to Wheatland from West Plains. … Bloomquist is the only driver to start all previous 23 events; Wendell Wallace is next at 21 starts. … USRA modifieds battle for $500-to-win features Thursday and Friday with $1,000-to-win on Saturday.
