Thunderstorms cancel WoO stop in Brainerd
From series reports
BRAINERD, Minn. (July 10) — A deluge from morning thunderstorms forced the cancellation of Thursday's World of Outlaws Late Model Series Wild West Tour event at North Central Speedway. Scheduled as the second stop of a nine-race swing through six states and one Canadian province, the WoO visit to the 3/8-mile oval was doomed by heavy rain that swept across Minnesota early on Thursday and swamped the track.
A suitable makeup date to run the event this season is unavailable, so North Central track owner Cliff Sasker is already making plans to bring the WoO LMS back to his track in 2009. “The constant pounding from the rain was just too much for the track to handle,” said Sasker. “We’re disappointed that our fans won’t be able to see the World of Outlaws Late Model Series this season, but we’ll look forward to hosting an event next year.”
The Wild West Tour is scheduled to resume Friday, July 11, at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.
