Wildung grabs NLRA victory at Viking
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (Sept. 2) — Jeff Wildung of Nassau, Minn., captured the Joe Salner Memorial for the third straight year Sunday at Viking Speedway, earning $1,100 for his 10th career victory on the Northern LateModel Racing Association.
The third-starting Wildung took the lead from outside front row Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., on a mid-race restart and raced to victory. Seng settled for second with Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., in third. Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., the winner of the previous night’s NLRA event at Viking, rallied from 13th to finish fourth and rookie Dustin Strand of Grand Forks rounded out the top five.
Polesitter and series points leader Ricky Weiss of Winnipeg, Manitoba, led the first half of the race before rolling his left-rear tire off the rim and heading pitside. He finished 10th.
