Rain delays, condenses race schedule at DTWC

The original Thursday-Saturday program has been shifted to a Saturday-Sunday program for three-division program, which includes the prestigious $50,000-to-win Late Model event being held at an Indiana racetrack for the first time.
The soaked Dearborn County Fairgrounds facility is wet and muddy after steady precipitation that is forecast to leave the area by Friday, promoters said. Forecasts for Saturday and Sunday are for cool but dry weather.
“We want to give the racers the best surface possible and the fans the best race possible," said Lawrenceburg Speedway promoter Dave Rudisell. "With the forecast we have Saturday and Sunday will allow us to get it done."
Short and Rudisell cited safety concerns for delaying the event and condensing it to two days, realizing the extensive moisture in the racing surface would likely have left drivers facing rough track conditions at the high-banked 3/8-mile oval.
Gates are scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with on-track activities getting under way by 12:30 p.m. both days. The revised event schedule puts the Late Model competition early in the program both days, with Late Models hot-lapping first on Saturday and the 100-lap Late Model main event first among the features. Sunday's action will also include a $5,000-to-win sprint main and $3,000-to-win modified main.
