FAQ: USA Nationals live production details
Frequently asked questions about DirtonDirt.com's live production pay-per-view Aug. 4-6 from Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.:
What will I get if purchase the pay-per-view?
Every lap of racing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with pre-race and post-race shows, driver interviews, pit reports and other features. We expect to provide more than 15 hours of live coverage. You'll also have the opportunity to chat with other viewers.
How much does it cost?
For DirtonDirt.com subscribers, all three days are $22. It's $30 for a three-day package for non-subscribers. Single-day packages are $15 apiece. You'll need a credit card at our ordering page to select your package. If you're already a subscriber, the process takes just a moment.
Is my computer capable of receiving pay-per-view?
If you have a high-speed connection and you're typically able to view videos at theDirtonDirt.com website, you're all set. Computers five years old or newer with recent software shouldn't have any problems.
How do I get to the live video page?
You can click here for the live page, or several other places on the site including the link under the photo on the front page.
Is it just like watching TV?
For the most part, although you computer screen is likely a bit smaller and the picture isn't quite as a sharp as some television broadcasts. As long as you have a steady high-speed internet connection, you should be able to watch smooth video throughout each night's program.
What's the racing schedule?
Thursday's racing is a complete $5,000-to-win program for the Dart Corn Belt Clash Series. Friday's racing will include hot laps, time trials and heat races for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Saturday's racing will include consolation races and the $50,000-to-win USA Nationals main event for the World of Outlaws. The track's weekly NASCAR-sanctioned Late Models will run complete programs Friday and Saturday nights.
What time does the production begin?
The pre-race show is scheduled to begin each afternoon at 5 p.m. Central. The hour-long show will be followed by the night's action and then a half-hour post-race show presented by U.S. Steel.
Can I watch from work?
Maybe not. Many places of businesses use security firewalls on computer systems that prevent live video. If you receive a server message (something like rtmp://dirtondirt.streamguys.com:80/live) it's likely a firewall issue. Most home networks won't have such firewall issues.
Who hosts the show?
Dustin Jarrett and Ben Shelton, who both bring an array of announcing and broadcast experience. Jarrett announces at historic Eldora Speedway in Ohio and is a veteran Lucas Oil Series bog and other productions. Shelton, who operates a racing publicity firm, announces at dozens of tracks and worked on last year'sDirtonDirt.com production.
Who will do play-by-play of the races?
Chris Stephan, Cedar Lake's veteran announcer, and Rick Eshelman, long-time announcer of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, will share the duties. Ben Shelton will also report from the infield during the action.
Who is doing the production?
DirtonDirt.com co-founder Michael Rigsby will oversee a specially assembled production team that brings extensive broadcast experience. Jay Williams of Parker Street Productions is directing with assistance from Charlie King. Steve Gigeous of Sports Plus Video is among camera operators along with Terry Boeder and Sam Sorenson. Joshua Joiner will provide graphics and monitor the chat room.
Can I watch a replay of the production?
Yes, complete replays of the production will be available about 24 hours after each race night. The links are available at the bottom of the live video page.
Is the live production available on mobile devices?
A computer and full web browser will provide the best experience, but perhaps some Flash-enabled tablets will allow viewing. Those with iPhones and iPads are out of luck.
