RINGGOLD, Ga. (Aug. 3) — Outside polesitter Aaron Ridley of Chatsworth, Ga., took the lead on the start Friday night’s 40-lap Southern Regional Racing Series feature at Boyd’s Speedway and held off polesitter Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., en route to his third series victory of the season. | Slideshow

Ridley earned $3,000 for his first victory at Boyd’s quarter-mile oval in topping Cook and Jake Knowles of Tyrone, Ga., at the finish. Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., was fourth with Todd Morrow of East Ridge, Tenn., rounding out the top five finishers.

Ridley grabbed the lead over Cook on the start and held the top spot through a 15-lap green-flag run to start the race. The first caution appeared when Skip Arp of Georgetown, Tenn., slowed in turn one.

The second caution came four laps later when Randy Todd of Lexington, Tenn., spun in turn two and collected Josh Henry of Newport, Tenn. Before the caution, Knowles moved past Welshan for third place.

Fluid leaking from Shane Tankersley’s race car caused the race’s third caution on lap 31, and a tangle between Brett Holmes and Jay Scott on the restart caused the fourth and final yellow flag.

Cook pressured Ridley on each of the restarts, but Ridley held on for the victory.

In victory lane, Ridley dedicated his win to Biddle Ridley, a family member that passed away earlier in the week.

Notes: Ridley's Revelution Chassis is sponsored by True Temp Heating & Air Conditioning. ... Ridley’s previous SRRS victories came at his hometown track of North Georgia Speedway and Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge, Ga. … Cook was making his first start since taking two weeks off to promote his Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series. … The SRRS tour was scheduled to compete Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., but the race was cancelled due to heavy rainfall Friday.
