Kirchoff survives for CLMA victory at Black Hills
RAPID CITY, S.D. (May 13) – Defending series champion Eddie Kirchoff scored his 19th career Championship Late Model Association DIRTcar Series victory when the tour visited at Black Hills Speedway Friday night.
The Gillette, Wyo., driver survived a rough racetrack and repeated challenges from hometown driver Scott Anderson to score the $1,200 victory, according to the Rapid City Journal.
Kirchoff moved by Anderson for the lead on the 10th lap of the feature as the two drivers raced through slower traffic. Anderson battled back and challenged to retake the lead for the remainder of the race, but couldn’t find a way around Kirchoff.
Anderson settled for the runner-up finish with John Bey of Sturgis, S.D., finishing third. Hometown drivers Mike Stadel and Brent Nielsen finished fourth and fifth.
