What won the race: Grabbing his second $5,000 victory of the month in West Virginia, Colten Burdette of Parkersburg, W.Va., captured Saturday's Gibby's King Championship main event at Ohio Valley Speedway. The seventh-starting Burdette overcame a subpar qualifying effort and took the checkers ahead of track champion Ronnie Mayle to match his richest payday.
Quotable: "I've run this things five times (and) I haven't moved anything on it," winner Colten Burdette said of his new Rocket Chassis. "I mean, all I've done is put tires on this thing, and it just keeps giving. Everything worked out in our favor and the track was great."
Key notes: Burdette's first big September victory came the first day of the month at Tyler County Speedway's Outhouse 30 as he picked up $5,000 in Middlebourne, W.Va. ... Polesitter Mike Benedum led first 25 laps. ... Ronnie Mayle took control, but Burdette quickly moved into contention and won a side-by-side battle, edging away for the victory. ... Two-time Gibby's King Championship winner Freddie Carpenter was 15th. ... Ed Shuman spun for a turn-four caution just after getting lapped.
On the move: Harold Redman Jr. of Tyler Mountain, W.Va., started 12th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Burdette's Rocket Chassis is unsponsored.
Points chase: Ronnie Mayle of Chesterhill, Ohio, captured Ohio Valley's Super Late Model division title.
