Sam Seawright discusses his $3,000 payday at Fort Payne.
What won the race: Taking the lead when Jeremy Holtzclaw's right-right rear tire went flat on the 40th and final lap polesitter Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., won Sunday’s Red Line Synthetic Oil UCRA season opener at Fort Payne Motor Speedway. Seawright, who also won last year's Eddie Davis Memorial Bama Brawl,, earned $3,000 for finishing 1.815 seconds ahead of fifth-starting Jerry Green of Knoxville, Tenn.
Key notes: Seawright led 25 laps, including the first 24. ... Hayden Ownbey led laps 25-27 before retiring, handing Jeremy Holtzclaw the lead. ... Six drivers finished on the lead lap. ... The Red Line Synthetic Oil United Championship Racing Alliance kicked off its 12-race season with the two-day show at Fort Payne, the tour’s home track. ...
