Notes: Less than one week removed from wrapping up the Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway, the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series rolls into Cedar Lake Speedway for the 36th annual USA Nationals. … The three-day event kicks off with Thursday and Friday’s 30-lap, $6,000-to-win full-field preliminary features. Not only paying points toward the season-long title, Thursday and Friday’s prelims will also follow WoO's “every lap matters” format where drivers will be awarded points for qualifying, heat races, consolations and each night’s main event. The top 16 point earners following Friday’s action will be locked into Saturday’s 100-lap, $50,000-to-win finale, with the remaining drivers relegated to running a consolation or last chance race, which precede Saturday’s USA Nationals. … Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., eyes his third straight and fourth career USA Nationals victory. … World of Outlaws series points leader Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., won Tuesday’s $15,000 Hawkeye 50 at Boone Speedway and seeks his first career USA Nationals triumph. … Winner of 2018’s USA Nationals, Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., added a $20,000 series victory at Cedar Lake in 2020, increasing his total race winnings to more than $70,000 there. … Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., won five of the first six USA Nationals and was later tied by Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., for most wins in the prestigious event. … A FansFund Dash will be held Thursday. The 12 drivers receiving donated travel money: Trevor Gundaker, Kaede Loudy, Ricky Weiss, Ashton Winger, Ricky Thornton Jr., Jason Feger, Daulton Wilson, James Giossi, Cody Overton, Tyler Clem, Drake Troutman and Dillon McCowan. ... A tubing outing will be held on the nearby Apple River on Friday and Saturday morning and a drivers’ autograph session on Saturday afternoon headlining the off-track entertainment. … Cedar Lake’s Limited Late Model division is on the undercard each night with $2,500-to-win events. … Gates open at 5 p.m. Thursday and one hour earlier Friday and Saturday, with racing at 7 nightly.
