Dillon makes it 2-for-2 with Clash victory at 311
MADISON, N.C. (May 8) — Polesitter Austin Dillon of Welcome, N.C., led all 40 laps at 311 Fastrack for his second consecutive Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series victory at the half-mile oval. Dillon set a blistering pace, lapping cars by the eighth lap and staying in control throughout en route to a $4,000 payday.
Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., finished second while five-time series champion Ricky Weeks of Rutherfordton, N.C., moved up two spots to finish third. Seventh-starting G.R. Smith of Huntersville, N.C., and outside front-row starter Dean Bowen of Whiteville, N.C., rounded out the top five.
Three cautions slowed the action, first for Michael Marlowe's turn-one spin and then when Randle Chupp slowed in turn four on the next lap. The last yellow appeared on the 30th lap when Timmy Blackwell rolled to a stop.
Notes: Dillon's Warrior Race Car is powered by an Earnhardt-Childress Racing engine and sponsored by Mom and Pop's Country Ham. ... Brian Ledbetter advanced from 23rd to finish 17th and earn hard charger honors. ... Anthony Sanders got the hard luck award when he broke his second driveshaft of the night during pace laps. ...
