Ferguson, Umberger win $2,000 apiece at Beckley
BECKLEY, W.Va. (Oct. 5) — Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., and Brandon Umberger of Rural Retreat, Va., earned $2,000 apiece Friday at Beckley Motorsports Park in Fastrak’s preliminary features on World Championship weekend for the Crate Late Model organization.
Ferguson outran Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., in the first feature while Umberger topped Lee Cooper of Woodruff, S.C., in the second 40-lapper.
The event drew 75 drivers from nine states with the top 20 from each of Friday’s preliminary features securing spots in Saturday’s World Championship qualifying.
Saturday’s racing includes the Fastrak Weekly World Challenge, a 50-lap race paying $7,000-to-win, and the season-ending Fastrak World Championship, a 75-lap race paying $22,000-to-win.
