East Bay rainout sets up Saturday doubleheader

February 5, 2010, 3:08 pm
From staff reports

GIBSONTON, Fla. — Steady Friday rain around Tampa forced postponement of the fifth round of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Dart Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park, the track announced.

After determining early Saturday that track conditions would permit it, officials rescheduled to the $10,000-to-win event as the first half of a Saturday doubleheader with hot laps beginning at noon. | Complete East Bay coverage

Capping the day's events and the week-long Winternationals will be a $12,000-to-win event, with hot laps scheduled for 5 p.m.

After four of six events, Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., leads the Dart Winternationals standings with 795 points. He's followed by Matt Miller (790) of Waterville, Ohio; Don O'Neal (745) of Martinsville, Ind.; Ray Cook (710) of Brasstown, N.C.; and Shannon Babb (690) of Moweaqua, Ill.

Four different winners visited victory lane Monday through Thursday: Mike Marlar of Winfield, Tenn.; reigning Lucas Oil champion Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn.; all-time winningest Winternationals driver Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark.; and four-time Lucas Oil champion Earl Pearson Jr of Jacksonville, Fla.
