Lucas grabs $5,000 for victory at Deep South

LOXLEY, Ala. (March 14-15) — Shep Lucas of McKenzie, Ala., defended his home-state turf at Deep South Speedway with a $5,000 victory in the Super Late Model portion of the Chuck Stevens Motorsports 100. Lucas went to the front with front-row starters Tim Fuller of Edwards, N.Y., and David Gentry of Lewisburg, Tenn., among his victims in the unsanctioned 40-lap feature. | Chuck Stevens Motorsports 100 Crate Late Model feature
Fuller, traveling to Deep South with Georgia driver and fellow World of Outlaws Late Model Series regular Clint Smith, lowered the track record with a 16.07-second lap in qualifying, but ended up 13th in the feature event. Smith finished second in the feature with Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., Gentry and Mark Clifton rounding out the top five.
Nathan Ingersoll of Robertsdale, Ala., captured Deep South’s $10,000-to-win crate feature.
