What won the race: Holding off Benji Hicks after a caution with three laps remaining, second-starting Michael Brown raced to the hometown victory in Saturday’s Ultimate Southeast Series sanctioned event at Lancaster Speedway. He claimed $4,000 for his first career series triumph.
Quotable: “I felt like my fans deserved to see me run well," Brown said, "and I know I wanted to run well, so I said to heck with it, we’re going to bring back the steering wheel or the checkered."
Key notes: Brown led flag-to-flag in the 40-lapper after polesitter Ben Watkins tagged the turn-four wall on the opening lap. … Third-running Ross Bailes of Clover, S.C., fell back to sixth after suffering a flat tire coming out of turn four on the final circuit. … The feature was slowed by three cautions.
On the move: Adam Yarbrough of Denver, N.C., started 10th and finished fourth.
