What won the race: Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., overtook fellow Floridian and polesitter Shan Smith on the 10th lap amid traffic Friday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park and raced to a Crate Racin' USA Winter Shootout victory. Whitener, who struggled without brakes the last 10 laps, earned $1,500 in the 25-lap Sunshine Nationals opener held over from Thursday night.
