What won the race: Eighth-starting Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., gained the lead with a turn-three slide job on lap 35 and led the rest of the way at Tri-City Speedway on Saturday, winning the $7,000 Lucas Oil Midwest LateModel Racing Association season finale. Martin's victory is his second career MLRA triumph, after his first was over five years ago at Lakeside (Kan.) Speedway.
Quotable: "Track was super top-dominant, I want to apologize to Shirley and his crew, I think I got into him down there when I passed for the lead," Martin said. "It was for sure not our intentions. I got a ton of respect for that guy and hate that we made contact down there."
Key notes: Martin is the 16th winner in 24 MLRA races this season. ... After leading laps 10 through 34, Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., settled for second place, 1.433 seconds back. ... Rusty Schlenk advanced seven positions and finished third. ... After leading the first nine laps, Billy Moyer faded to finish fourth. ... Jason Feger gained three spots and finished sixth. ... Brothers Gordy and Trevor Gundaker, Friday's MLRA winner, each gained multiple positions to finish eighth and ninth at their home track. ... Tony Jackson Jr. ran as high as fourth before retiring on lap 34 and finishing 18th. ... Saturday's feature, the MLRA tour's season finale, was slowed by three cautions and lasted 19 minutes, with 14 drivers completing 40 laps.
On the move: Mike Harrison of Highland, Ill., started 18th and finished fifth.
