What won the race: Taking the lead on the fourth lap, third-starting Jesse Sobbing of Malvern, Iowa, paced the final 27 circuits at Shelby County Speedway to capture Saturday's $4,000 Malvern Bank Series season opener. Sobbing earned his seventh career tour victory in repeating last year’s season-opening triumph.
Key notes: Dylan Sillman of Alvo, Neb., advanced three positions and finished second in his Late Model debut, 2.744 seconds back. ... Three-time series champion Tad Pospisil completed the podium in third. ... Jake Neal led the first three laps from the pole before fading to finish fourth. ... Winner of two of the last five series races at Shelby County Corey Zeitner gained two spots and finished fifth. ... Bill Leighton Jr. started 12th and finished eighth. ... Alan Hopp won the $500 non-qualifier race and elected to tag the main event, finishing 24th at his home track. ...
