Gregg Satterlee emerges after his $5,000 Port Royal victory
What won the race: Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., controlled all 35 laps of Appalachian Mountain Speedweek's second-round main event Saturday at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway to cap a clean sweep of the evening. Satterlee, who earned $5,000 for the victory, topped Hayes Mattern by 2.074 seconds on a night he also set fast time and won the miniseries dash.
Quotable: “I feel like tonight, things kind of clicked, for whatever reason," Satterlee told DirtonDirt.com. "You could say things fell our way. Had cautions when I needed them in that feature. Our car was good. Didn’t have anything stupid happen. For once it was just not an uphill battle all night long.”
Key notes: Satterlee earned his seventh career miniseries victory, moving him solely into first all-time after he had been tied with Rick Eckert. ... Drake Troutman of Hyndman, Pa., relinquished the second-starting spot to try and resolve an issue with his car in the hot pit area moments before the 35-lap feature. The 19-year-old only lasted a lap before slowing on lap two and eventually pulling pit side. ... Two additional cautions on laps 23 and 24 for Dillan Stake and Bryan Bernheisel, respectively, slowed the feature. ... Friday's winner at Clinton County Speedway and reigning miniseries champ Tyler Emory failed to qualify for the main event despite a valiant effort to come back from a vicious wreck while leading the first qualifier. The King George, Va., driver started 11th in the first B-main and finished fifth, two spots shy of a transfer. Emory dropped from the lead to 14th in the miniseries standings. ... Last year's AMS winner at Port Royal, Michael Norris of Sarver, Pa., didn't enter the event.
On the move: Matt Cosner of Ridgeley, W.Va., started 12th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Satterlee’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Keyser Manufacturing, Classic Ink, Integra Shocks, Simpson Race Products, Wiles Racing Driveshafts, Bulldog Rear Ends, Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic, LazFab Pit Sockets, Hooker Harness, All About Wraps, VP Racing Fuels, AFCO and Keizer Aluminum Wheels.
