Tad Pospisil's team celebrates his $3,000 Huset's vicotry.
What won the race: Taking command from polesitter Nick Beyenhof on the opening circuit, second-starting Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., paced the entire distance to win Thursday's Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Late Model Series 30-lapper at Huset's Speedway. Pospisil took the checkers 0.923 of a second ahead of Bill Leighton Jr. en route to a $3,000 payday.
Quotable: “It feels really damn good. Man it’s been a long time,” Pospisil said. “Start of this race, it was like ‘I wonder if I know how to win?’ ya know? It’s been a few years since we’ve won here. (I) just got up on the wheel and drove the hell out of this thing. I’m just so proud of my team and hell yeah, we’re back in victory lane.”
Key notes: Pospisil earned his ninth career Tri-State Series victory, his first of the season. ... Fifth-starting Bill Leighton Jr. finished runner-up for the second straight night after trailing Ricky Thornton Jr. in Wednesday's Ben Nothdurft Memorial. ... Justin Zeitner, of Malvern, Iowa, climbed eight positions to finish third. ... Jesse Glenz started and finished fourth. ... Cole Schill snuck past Cody Martin on the final circuit to snag fifth. ... A slowing Scott Ward brought out the first of five cautions on lap 14 after contact with the frontstretch wall. ... The red flag was displayed on lap 19 for a multicar incident involving Chad Olsen, Jordan Heiman and Corey Zeitner. ... Thursday's 30-lap Tri-State finale at Huset's lasted 25 minutes with 17 competitors completing the distance.
On the move: Cody Martin of Mitchell, S.D., started 15th and finished sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Pospisil's Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Scott Bailey Racing Engine and sponsored by Signor Trucking, Window World, Iron Horse CPAs & Advisors, Dietz Well & Pumps, 97.5 WEXL/WJAG, Island Supply, Bad Chad Motorsports and Malvern Bank.
