Shane Sabraski earned $3,000 with his Granite City victory.
What won the race: Sliding under Jesse Glenz in turns three and four after a lap 25-restart, division rookie Shane Sabraski of Rice, Minn., led the rest of Sunday's 40-lapper at Granite City Motor Park for his second Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory of the weekend. The third-starting Sabraski earned $3,000 in pulling away to take the checkers 3.335 seconds ahead of Tyler Peterson with polesitter Kevin Burdick, who led the first seven laps, in third. Glenz, who led laps 8-25, settled for fourth in searching for his first series victory since 2021.
Quotable: "It seemed like the restart before that I was really good, like I rolled by Tyler (Peterson and (Kevin) Burdick there. And then on that last restart, I thought maybe I'd have a shot again," Sabraski said. "I don't know if my tires cooled down exactly or what happened but it just seemed like it tractioned up good and I had a good run on Jesse, so I just went for it."
Key notes: Sabraski captured his ninth victory in his rookie Late Model season. The multidivision WISSOTA champion also notched his 906th career victory overall. ... Sabraski captured his second WISSOTA Challenge victory of the weekend. He notched his first-ever tour triumph in the first half of the Twin Ports Twin 25s at Gondik Law Speedway two nights earlier in Superior, Wis. ... Two cautions slowed the Granite City action, the first one on the 18th lap when Rick Niemi ended up facing the wrong way. ... Another yellow dropped on the 26th lap for frontstretch debris. ... Thirteen of 17 starters completed 40 laps in the 15-minute race.
On the move: Series points leader Cole Searing of Huron, S.D., started eighth and finished fifth.
