Chad Becker in victory lane at Miller Central Speedway.
What won the race: Repelling mid-race challenges from Cole Searing and then late-race pressure from Blair Nothdurft, second-starting Chad Becker of Aberdeen, S.D., scored a green-to-checkered victory in Friday's 25-lap Repairable Vehicles.com Tri-State Late Model Series feature at Miller Central Speedway. Becker bagged a $2,000 triumph, his third of the season on the Tri-State Series and the sixth of his career.
Key notes: Cole Searing took second on the lap-three restart and trailed Becker until appearing to tangle with him under the race's second and final caution. Searing was parked under the lap-20 stoppage and disqualified, presumably for showing his frustration over the late-race incident. ... Points leader Blair Nothdurft inherited the runner-up spot on the ensuing lap-20 restart and trailed Becker the final five laps, finishing 0.661 of a second back. ... Cody Martin and Josh Skorczewski traded third in the closing laps, with Martin prevailing and Skorczewski settling for fourth. ... Scott Ward improved six positions and rounded out the top five. ... Gary Brown Jr. scratched after his heat race.
On the move: Curt Kranz of Watertown, S.D., started 16th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Becker’s MB Customs Race Car is powered by a KBS Power engine and sponsored by Aberdeen Wings, Nickeson Harvesting, PM Auto and Truck Repair, Grote Heating & Cooling, Martin’s Decorative Stone, Sylte Farms, Brad’s Auto Glass, Fastenal of Sioux Falls, RBL Design, Saddawg Motorsports, Mark Peterson, CMD Race Shocks and Ultimate Graphics.
