What won the race: Overtaking polesitter Dale McDowell on a lap-17 restart at I-75 Raceway, Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga., led the rest of Saturday's 50-lap season finale on the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series in capping his $50,000 tour championship. Cruising the final 34 laps, Overton earned $20,000 in purse money by taking the checkers 0.920 of a second ahead of McDowell with Mike Marlar third.
Quotable: "I just wanted to keep riding around (in the lead). It's been a while," Overton said. "I know we've been struggling a little bit. People kinda, I guess, they lose confidence in you or whatever. And I just thought I'd remind them every now and then, you know, I can still drive these damn things."
Key notes: Overton, who wrapped up the season with three Hunt the Front Series victories, notched his ninth overall victory of the season and first since a June 28 Volunteer 50 semifeature victory in Bulls Gap, Tenn. ... Upstart Kaede Loudy was fifth for his second straight top-five finish. ... Four cautions slowed the feature, the last on lap 43 for Dillard Hatchett's rough ride over the turn-three banking. ... Jensen Ford drew a lap-17 yellow when he slipped off the frontstretch banking after slight contact with Vic Hill. ... On the 30th lap, sixth-running Sam Seawright slowed with a flat right-rear tire. ... Spencer Hughes slowed for a lap-31 yellow. ... Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., won Friday's $10,000 feature, taking the lead with 10 laps remaining when Overton had a flat tire. ... The series announced that I-75 will host HTF's first points race of 2025 on March 7-8.
On the move: Trey Mills of St. Augustine, Fla., started 22nd and finished 11th.
