Bobby Pierce's victory lane crotch chop paid tribute to late Hall of Fame racer Scott Bloomquist.
What won the race: Sliding by race-long leader Tyler Erb on lap 27, seventh-starting Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., dominated the rest of Wednesday's 50-lap Castrol FloRacing Night in America Series debut at Lernerville Speedway. Pierce cruised to the $20,000 victory by 5.035 seconds over Erb, earning his second series victory of the season and the seventh of his career while reclaiming the points lead.
Quotable: “It was a lot of fun, I really think the top (line) possibly was there too, if I had to move around in lapped traffic,” Pierce said. “Car was awesome down there on the bottom, we made the right tire call. It’s tough going to a new track, cause this place is very unique, I will say that. I’ve got a lot of laps here on the (video game).”
Key notes: Pierce, making his debut at Lernerville, flashed Scott Bloomquist's patented crotch-chop move in victory lane and later dedicated the win to the Bloomquist family, stating "shoutout to the Bloomquist family, prayers out to them ... the crotch-chop, that was his (signature) thing, so I was just trying to do that for him and their family." ... Tyler Erb made a bold fourth-to-first move on the opening lap and led the first 26 circuits before giving way to Pierce as they raced through lapped traffic. ... Daulton Wilson slipped by Garrett Alberson as they came to take the white flag and nipped him at the line by 0.069 of a second for third. Alberson challenged Erb in the opening laps before settling for fourth. ... Pole-starting Devin Moran faded to fifth. ... The race's lone caution came on lap 12 when Myles Moos spun in turn four, collecting Justin Kann as they were about to be lapped. Moos called it a night while Kann continued until pulling off on lap 26. ... Recently crowned four-time track champ Michael Norris retired while running 19th on lap 29. ... The feature lasted 18 minutes, with 12 drivers completing 50 laps and 21 running at the finish. ... Ross Robinson, Clay Harris, Chub Frank, Jared Miley, Colton Flinner and Mike Marlar (blown engine in his heat race) were among notable non-qualifiers.
On the move: Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., started 15th and finished ninth.
