What won the race: Winning by a whopping eight seconds, polesitter Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., captured his record-setting fifth straight Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series event Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway, earning $2,500. Ray Moore and Brian Rickman chased McCool from afar.
Key notes: McCool won Friday at Hattiesburg and has a personal winning streak of six races. ... His stretch of five straight victories tops the four-in-a-row record of Chris Wall of Springfield, La., in the 2006 seasons. ... In the second consolation, Eddie Rickman tagged the turn-three wall, collecting Jimmy Cliburn. Medical personnel checked on Cliburn during the red flag, and he later was checked out at a local emergency room. He had no broken bones but was determined to have a mild concussion. ... Cliburn, Rickman and Manny Falcon scratched from the feature lineup. ... The series is scheduled to return to Jakcson on Aug. 29 and Sept. 12.
