Andrew Mullins shows his finishing position in his Bridgeport debut.
What won the race: Winning Bridgeport Speedway's first Super Late Model event since 2011, fifth-starting Andrew Mullins of Bethel, Del., bested polesitter Glenn Elliott of Sykesville, Md., in a green-white-checkered dash to the finish for a $3,000 victory in the Three For All. Mullins made his deciding pass of Elliott coming to the white flag.
Quotable: "There in that heat there, we weren't too good. Luckily my crew (helped), and I have to thank Austin Hubbard big time. He came over and helped us a lot tonight," Mullins said in victory lane. "If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here. ... I honestly didn't event think (the car was) that good, but apparently, here we are."
Key notes: The event was initially scheduled for July 15, but wet weather postponed it until six days later. ... Action was halted by a brief rain delay following Tuesday's heat races. ... Race winner Mullins's good buddy, Austin Hubbard, found the turn-three wall during hot laps, ending his night with heavy damage to the car he calls "Jigsaw." ... Hubbard's fellow Seaford, Del., resident C.J. Faison also scratched from action due to a blown motor during hot laps after he took a day off from his week-long vacation to North Carolina's Outer Banks to compete. ... Bridgeport hosted a rare Super Late Model event in the state of New Jersey. The 5/8-mile oval hosted the class for the first time since November 2011 ... URC 360 sprint cars and 358 small-block modifieds were also in action. ... Delaware Auto Exchange sponsored the event.
On the move: The winner started fifth; third-place finisher Dave Zona moved forward from the 10th starting spot.
Winner's sponsors: Mullins is sponsored by Bi-Rite Auto Sales, Keyser Mfg., Mullins Auto Brokes, Schaeffer's Racing Oil and Speed Shop.
