What won the race: Using the outside groove, Chad Thrash of Meridian, Miss., came from his ninth starting spot at Greenville Speedway for a 40-lap victory, the first of his career on the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing circuit. He took the lead from Rob Litton, who led the first 18 laps and finished sixth.
Quotable: "I knew the (right-rear quarterpanel) damage was superficial, I have done that here before on occasion and to win races doing the same thing in using the wall as a measuring stick. It is just the nature of how you have to race some tracks," Thrash said. "Now that Greenville has the wall around it, it have that little bit of a berm that builds up in front of it and if you can get up there, you can kind of hold your right rear on it and really sail around that outside."
Key notes: Nine cautions slowed the feature. ... Allen Tippen had a freeze plug issue in his heat race, scrambled to make the feature but was an early retiree. ... Tyler Erb was also out early when a wreck knocked his fan through the radiator. ... Hometown driver Greg Fore had problems in hot laps and moved into the backup car of Bo Gordon; he rallied from 20th to ninth in the feature. ... Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, Miss., won the night's Crate feature.
On the move: The winning Thrash gained eight positions; Jeff Chanler came from 10th to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Thrash's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine and sponsored by Thrash Pest Control, Structural Steel, TomKat of Chunky, Miss., Hoosier Racing Tire, Five Star Bodies, Miller Lite and X-Treme Graphics by J-Rod.
Points chase: Runner-up Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, winner of the tour's previous event at Baton Rouge Raceway, expanded his points lead. He's got 374 points to lead Rob Litton (324), Jeff Chanler (276) and Patrik Daniel (270).
