What won the race: Eighth-starting Brandon Umberger of Rural Retreat, Va., earned $5,500 Saturday at Princeton Speedway in capturing the 40-lap Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial, a Fastrak-sanctioned Crate Late Model special. Early leader Jeff Maxwell was second followed by Brandon Riffe in the 40-lapper.
Key notes: The feature started about 10:45 p.m. ... The fifth annual Upper Big Branch Miners Memorial was a non-touring Fastrak-sanctioned event. ... Jeff Maxwell, who earned $290 for his fast-qualifier honors, won last week's tuneup at Princeton. ... Previous race winners were Chris Meadows (2012 and '14), Eddie Hambrick (2013) and David Watts (2011). ... Modifieds and other divisions were also in action.
On the move: Umberger improved seven positions; Aaron Barley earned hard charger honors.
