Montana Dudley led all 50 laps for an East Alabama victory.
What won the race: Hometown driver Montana Dudley led all 50 laps Saturday at East Alabama Motor Speedway for his first NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series victory. He earned $2,500 in the Crate Late Model special.
Quotable: “This is big for us to win our first NeSmith race in our hometown in front of friends and family at our home track,” Dudley said. “I was nervous leading the race because I would look up at the scoreboard under cautions knowing that there were two local guys behind me that know this track as well as I do.”
Key notes: Runner-up Terrance Nowell of Phenix City ran without brakes most of the way. ... Ryan King's two-race win streak on the tour ended with a fourth-place finish. ... Ronnie Cooper sailed over the banking on the 35th lap but rallied back to sixth. ... Among cautions was a lap-46 tangle between Matt Henderson and Shep Lucas in a battle for fifth. ... The race was a makeup of a July 4 rainout, and nine drivers didn't return.
On the move: Ryan Crane of Panama City, Fla., started 12th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Dudley's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Dale's Quick Lube & Auto Service, Thomason Extended Stay Properties, WrapTech and Wimmers Wrecker Service.
Points chase: Ronnie Johnson leaves EAMS with 1,282 points to lead Ryan King (1,184) and Chase Edge (1,180).
