What won the race: Third-starting Rhett Carter of Blackshear, Ga., took the lead on the 24th lap at Needmore Speedway when mechanical problems forced race-long leader Tristan Sealy to the pits. Carter picked up $3,000 for his first career Southern Thunder Late Model Series victory as he took the checkers more than four seconds ahead of runner-up Kelly Walker in the 40-lapper.
Key notes: Rain delayed the event early in the program, but the track crew whipped the surface back into shape. ... The feature didn't end until well after midnight. ... Rhett Carter's victory locks him into November's Top Gun Shootout at Needmore.
