Billy Moyer Jr. picked up $5,000 at the Brent Means Memorial.
What won the race: Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, Ark., turned back a late challenge from Bub McCool of Vicksburg, Miss., to pocket a $5,000 top prize for winning the unsanctioned 62-lap Brent Means Memorial at North Mississippi Motor Park Speedway. The 27-year-old driver led the race from flag-to-flag off the pole, but McCool pulled a slider on Moyer through turns one and two with about 15 laps remaining that forced Moyer to return the favor at the other end of the track to maintain command.
Key notes: Billy Moyer Jr.'s victory was his fifth overall of 2015 and his second in as many days. He won a weekly series feature on Friday evening at NEA Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark. ... McCool preserved a second-place finish by holding off Ashley Newman, who slipped back to sixth before rallying late to offer McCool a stiff challenge. ... After the start of the program was delayed by rain that fell following hot laps, action resumed and time trials were completed. With more rain threatening, officials decided to cancel heat races and go right to the 62-lap feature. ... The special event closed the season at the Corinth, Miss., oval. ... The race was promoted by long-time Mississippi driver Howard Means and paid tribute to his son, who died earlier this year.
