What won the race: Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, led all 40 laps Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 for a $5,000 victory, his first of the seaon on the MARS DIRTcar Series. His seventh career tour victory was his first since last August.
Quotable: "It was getting pretty treacherous there at the end (on the high side)," Gustin said. "It's really easy to get up into (the wall), that's for sure. This track's fun. I love it."
Key notes: Gustin's last series victory came Aug. 8, 2014, at Nebraska's Junction Motor Speedway. ... Seventeen drivers finished on the lead lap. ... A five-minute shower required a brief hot-lap session to get the track back in shape just after 10 p.m. ... Brian Shirley slowed on lap 22 for a caution. ... Dave Jumper slowed for a lap-12 yellow. ... Outside front-row starter Tim Manville got into the wall on the first lap. ... The Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 event capped a three-race weekend in Kentucky (Paducah), Illinois (Tri-City) and Missouri.
On the move: Jesse Stovall of Billings, Mo., started ninth and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Gustin’s Ed and Cinde Gressel-owned Rocket Chassis has a Mullins Race Engine and is sponsored by Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, CPD Racing Tools, Eibach Springs, FastShafts, Henryetta Ford, Integra Racing Shocks, Larry's Performance Carburetors, Midwest Sheet Metal, R2C Performance Products, Sybesma Graphics and VP Race Fuels.
