Walker Arthur (87) held off Dennis Franklin (2) for the $15,000 Fastrak prize at Virginia Motor Speedway.
What won the race: Polesitter Walker Arthur of Forest, Va., held off Dennis Franklin over the final six circuits of the 60-lap feature for a $15,000 prize in the Fastrak Racing Series World Championship at Virginia Motor Speedway. Arthur's margin of victory was 0.484 seconds.
Quotable: "I hated to cut Rambo off," Arthur said of his furious late-race battle for the lead with the 2013 event winner. "On that last restart I heard him digging down there so I had to steal that line or he was going to beat me coming to the white flag. I hated to do it but I believe he would have done it to me ... I'm not sure, but I think he would have."
Key notes: Arthur, who previously won a Fastrak event at VMS on April 11, became the 12th different winner of the Fastrak Racing Series World Championship event in its 12-year history and gave him a career-high payoff. ... Defending race winner Tim Dohm finished fourth. ... Corey Gordon of Charlotte N.C., earned his biggest career victory in Friday's weekend opener, pocketing $5,000 in a 40-lap race; Gordon was an early retiree, finishing 18th Saturday. ... Arthur failed to qualify for Friday's feature. ... Virginia Motor welcomed Fastrak competitors for their richest weekend of the season. ... James River Equipment was the event's presenting sponsor. ... Only a Nov. 14 stop in Lavonia, Ga., remains on the tour's schedule.
On the move: Dillon Brown advanced from the 22nd starting spot to finish fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Arthur's MasterSbilt Race Car is sponsored by Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farm, M&L Mechanical, McCarter Brothers Racing and Kenny Lamb Racing Engines.
