Casey Roberts heads to a $10,000 victory at County Line.
What won the race: Ultimate Series champ Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., topped Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., to grab his third straight Race for the Kids victory, earning $10,000 at County Line Raceway. Roberts regained control when Boggs, who made a backstretch pass for the lead mid-race, briefly slowed exiting turn four a few laps later to avoid a car returning from the pits.
Quotable: "(Boggs) caught a tough break there," Roberts said in victory lane. "He may deserve to be standing here. A guy came off the track there on top of him there, and kind of buggered him up. But he was real good. I gotta thank him for running us good and clean. I just can't praise the Lord enough ... it's just such a blessing here to win another one here at this place."
Key notes: Roberts, a three-time Ultimate champ, collected his sixth series victory of the season and 18th of his career. ... Boggs was disappointed that Kyle Hardy returned from the pits in turn four in front of his leading car, forcing him to slow and allow the winning pass. That Hardy was disqualified for disobeying a track worker's stop sign little consolation to Boggs, who said a caution should've been thrown. "It wasn't fair," Boggs said after the race. "I don't care how you stack it." ... Polesitter Dustin Mitchell ended up fifth. ... Chris Ferguson wasn't around on Saturday after he had a rollover accident in turn four in Friday's heat action. Ferguson wasn't injured but the resulting damage ended his weekend.
On the move: Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., advanced from eighth to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Robert's Jim and Ann Cushman-owned Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Custom Race Engine and carries sponsorship from Cushman Paint & Body, Hoosier Racing Tire, M&S Concrete, Schaeffer Oil, Starrette Trucking, and VP Racing Fuels.
Points chase: Roberts wrapped up his third straight Ultimate Super Late Model Series title.
Car count: 31
Fast qualifier: Russell Erwin
Time: 14.432 seconds
Polesitter: Dustin Mitchell
Heat race winners: Dustin Mitchell, Casey Roberts, Jackie Boggs
Consolation race winners: Glenn Elliott
Editor's note: Clarifies Hardy's disqualification was for disobeying a track worker's signal, not re-entering the track from the pits.
